Tigress closeup at Low Angle in Waterhole in Ranthambore.
On one of my tiger photography tours in Ranthambore National Park, I had the privilege of capturing an extraordinary moment, A close encounter with a beautiful tigress at this quiet waterhole.
I was waiting at this waterhole knowing that the tigress was nearby and would visit the waterhole in the hot summer afternoon. There were no other vehicles around and after some good time just waiting (part of the game), saw her walking towards the water. I am familiar with the tigress and she is quite photo friendly. She sat in the water close to the vehicle.
Wildlife Photography is all about letting the animal come close. When the animal comes to you they are comfortable and its great to get natural images.
Grace in every stride, power in every gaze—a tigress’s beauty speaks the language of the wild.
I had my Nikon 1 v3 with a 50mm lens with me. So the choice was obvious. I was close to the tigress but wanted to shoot as low as possible. To shoot the tigress closeup at low angle I had to put the camera outside my vehicle. This shot was taken by placing the camera very low, out of my vehicle, as low as I could possibly hold steady. One advantage of having a flexible LCD screen is that they come handy when trying to shoot low. In this Photo the tigress is checking me as I tried to stay still with the camera lowered outside the vehicle. After this she just relaxed and looked away.
Shooting closeup with a 50mm gives a unique perspective. You can see the intensity on her face and the peaceful ambiance surrounding the water. This photograph portrays strength and grace.
