Updated Image on 23 Oct 2024. Tiger Portrait of Matkasur in Tadoba. Matkasur is the name of this handsome young male tiger from Tadoba National Park. I was awestruck the first time I saw him. Sitting just in front of another vehicle ahead of mine. The light was beautiful and this animal was handsome beyond doubt. The vehicle in front of me was positioned such that i could only shoot a close portrait although I would have also loved to […]

Typical tiger habitat of bandhavgarh. One of the Banbai sub-adults seen last year in 2014. They are not to be seen this year, hope they have gone and established their territory elsewere. Photographed using nikon d800+200400vr+ricebag.
3-4 month old cubs from Ranthambore tigress Noor (T39). Even at 1600 ISO I was not getting enough shutter speed to freeze this young one speeding towards my camera. Not as sharp as I would prefer it still is one of my favourite. Photographed using nikon d800 + nikkor 200-400 vr on bean bag.
Photographed this handsome male tiger on the last morning safari at kanha national park. We managed to get in front of him as soon as we got the chance when he entered the foliage for a few moments. From there on he walked following our vehicle for nearly 10 minutes, sometimes getting real close. A tiger walking close is always a treat especially when facing you. It is increased many folds when its a handsome male tiger as the difference […]
A male tiger walking in open meadows is a wildlife photographers delight. A male tiger walking straight towards you even for a few seconds exceeds that delight. I had just such a sighting when i was recently on my wildlife photo tour of kanha. This tiger was there just for a few seconds literally and moved again to the meadow on the right. With all the other vehicles moving around, my own vehicle reversing, its easy to mess this. Some […]
Yesterday on our safari of Wildlife photo tours at bandhavgarh, we spotted tigress called kankatti with her 3 cubs who are just 4-5 months old. It was a fantastic experience to see small one playing and one of them in the above image just took out the camera trap while playing with it. I am sure the camera trap took some nice jaw pics of the cub. Posting from bandhavgarh between safaris cheers 🙂
Bengal Tiger Backlit. For those who are not aware this is the new dominant male tiger from the famous bandhavgarh tiger reserve. He has challenged and driven most of the male tigers from the tala zone of Bandhavgarh National Park. Due to his big territory he is seen in the tala zone once every 10-15 days. He is the son of the very famous tiger B2 who is himself the son of his more famous father charger. Check Best Wildlife […]
This was shot recently in bandhavgarh on 31 March 2011. Every time I passed this place I wondered how beautiful it would be if a tiger is near or in that water. One evening it just happened we followed the rajbehra tigress as it crossed in front of our vehicle and then went straight towards the lake. The evening light was perfect, the water still, the green sal reflection in the water created a magical atmosphere, it was magical we just […]
