One of the best place to see and photograph Hog deer is kaziranga national park, also kaziranga is one of the few forest in India where the commonly found cheetal or spotted deer does not exist instead you see lots of hog deer.
After lot of cheetal and langur alarms calls and few distant glimpses for about an hour, I decided to wait near a jungle trail frequently used by tigers and other animals where we thought she would come out from. There was silence for about 15 mins and the wait to get a close look was nearing the end of our safari time. We thought she had settled down and would not come out but just as we were loosing hope […]
Shot this male asian elephant in Kaziranga national park. The ash colored mud of kaziranga gives a unique character to these giants.
Shot this recently one evening in Kaziranga on www.wildlifephototours.com. Although I love the color image I just wanted to convert it to a monochrome and see how it looks. Here is the BW conversion with a touch of sepia. I leave this to you guys to decide which one you think looks & feels better? Click to see more of kaziranga images
Bengal Tiger Backlit. For those who are not aware this is the new dominant male tiger from the famous bandhavgarh tiger reserve. He has challenged and driven most of the male tigers from the tala zone of Bandhavgarh National Park. Due to his big territory he is seen in the tala zone once every 10-15 days. He is the son of the very famous tiger B2 who is himself the son of his more famous father charger. Check Best Wildlife […]
This was shot recently in bandhavgarh on 31 March 2011. Every time I passed this place I wondered how beautiful it would be if a tiger is near or in that water. One evening it just happened we followed the rajbehra tigress as it crossed in front of our vehicle and then went straight towards the lake. The evening light was perfect, the water still, the green sal reflection in the water created a magical atmosphere, it was magical we just […]
Posting after some time now from kanha, this is shot in Kanha a 2 days ago on our January tour. My tour group saw this tigress chasing a jackal, the jackal actual seemed to just stay there and call this tigress as if to divert attention towards it, probably trying to protect pups by diverting attention. the light here was perfect and one thing i observed here is the tigress coat is much brighter than most tigers i have seen. […]
Shot this from my window a few years ago, this once commonly found bird is fast declining. I used to see them in huge nos. when i was a kid, now they can hardly be seen. I hardly see these from my window any more. With so much rapid construction happening around no wonder these little creatures are loosing their homes and disappearing. Shot with a nikon d300 + 200-400vr lens.
Here a langur monkey sits near the entrance of a cave where the dominant male tiger of bandhavgarh sleeps. The langur was so curious that initial it would get close and after a glance run away, after a while he was sure the tiger is asleep and sat nearby. Curiosity is not just found in humans. It was a amazing moment to watch this guy.
