It was fantastic to stay inside kanha forest, the weather was teasing us, it rained for some days and even though the atmosphere was great and misty, it was quite difficult to get any good animal sightings especially tigers. The weather got better on this particular day and we saw this young tiger cub in the kanha zone. Tiger in green is not often seen, the lush green surrounding works well here. Shot with a nikon d800 + nikkor 200400vr […]
Photographed this Harrier at sunset sitting on a acacia tree at Velavadar Sanctuary in Gujarat, unfortunately it was already late for the park gate timings and I had to do with just a quick shot. Apart from blackbucks, Neelgai, Wolfs, Hyenna this park is the worlds largest communal roosting site for Harriers. Photographed using a d300+200-400vr+monopod.
The last of the asiatic lions are found in Sasan Gir, India. Photographed this majestic male lion one afternoon on my recent photography tour of Gir, Photographed with a nikon d300 + nikkor 200-400vr + monopod.
Photographed this tigress today morning at Rajbajra in Bandhavgarhs Tala zone. This female also known as rajbahra tigress as she is often seen in the grassland area of rajbahra, has four grown up cubs (almost 2 years). She was just out on the road and barely there in this grass. Got a few other shots of her in the open, but like this composition, looks more in her habitat. With 4 – 5 vehicles around, shooting a tiger is not […]
Saw this Langur mother feeding the baby, sitting on the wall on the periphery of the Bandhavgarh National Park. I have another frame where the both mother and baby are looking at me but I seem to like this more. Langurs have a lot of character and can be very interesting subjects. It is always refreshing to see them socializing and the young playing. Photographed using a Nikon d300 and Nikkor 200-400 vr lens on a monopod.
These 2 sisters out of the 4 sub-adult siblings are from the Telia area of Tadoba national park and known as the telia family. On the morning safari after their playful fight they sat on this mound watching their kingdom. They should separate in the comings months and form their own territories. Females are known to form areas close to their mothers territory but with 4 sisters it would be quite difficult for all to form territories close by. Only […]
Recently on my tour of Kanha we were lucky on our last safari and saw this leopard family. We were the first vehicle on morning safari in the sarhi zone and as we rushed to track tigers we heard a sambar call and slowed down and as we moved over the turns of the hilly terain trying to locate the area of the call we saw this family sitting on this rock. Being the only vehicle for about a minute […]
Backgrounds play a very imp role in making the image pleasing. This little common kingfisher was flying through a pond in kanha national park trying to catch some fish. This particular area of the pond had this pattern and the reflection of the sky and foliage made a nice background. I tried a few times and this one is my favourite frame. Following the bird and clicking continuously keeping the bg in mind worked. The colors, ripples and framing of […]
The moment I shot this image I knew its not a good image in color but can be good in black and white. Sometimes images which dont even look like keepers in color turn out to be great BW. I used lightroom 4 to process it in bw. Langurs are such great subjects especially for backlit. Photographed this on my bandhavgarh tour using nikon d300 + nikkor 200-400 + monopod (or was it bean bag doesn’t matter as long as […]
